Remote Control
8. Remote Control

The infrared remote control makes the Aver card as comfortable to use as a real TV set.
The infrared remote control can be used to control all of the card's TV, radio and recording features from the comfort of your sofa. However, the combination of card and IR-remote proved not to be an ideal solution for channel-surfing, as switching between channels easily takes around a second. You quickly learn to appreciate that the program shows the station name and channel number when changing channels. By the way, switching between the various AV inputs, i.e. analog input, radio, TV takes one to two seconds.
An additional function of the remote is that it can switch both the card and the program off, or put them into sleep mode. When the card is deactivated, the remote's numeric keys can be used as a mouse replacement. However, when in this mode, the cursor's movement is rather imprecise.
The card's software includes additional features, such as turning the card on (wake) or off (sleep) at a certain time; snapshots; or recording in time-shift mode. These are also accessible through the IR remote.
