13. Goodbye TV Guide, Hello EPG

DVB-T users automatically have access to the electronic program guide, or EPG for short. At the touch of a button, the EPG displays the various channels' broadcast programs in a list. The list for each channel includes the name, broadcast time and duration of each show. Additionally, short descriptions or genre classifications are offered for some shows.

The EPG makes TV guides superfluous

This basically makes a printed TV program guide superfluous, and also makes programming the PVR immensely simple. To record a certain show, all you need to do is find it in that TV station's listing of shows in the EPG; then click on it to add it to the recording schedule. However, one quirk we initially found irritating was that it takes about 15 to 20 seconds after launching the EPG before the list is displayed.
