10. Extensive Audio And Video Recording Functionality, Continued

Like any "real" VCR, the Avermedia card can be set to record shows at certain times. The program also features a setting that shuts the notebook down when the recording is complete.

The PVR can be set to shut down the notebook when the recording is complete.

It is even possible to record several different shows at different times during a day. All of the selected shows and their broadcast times can be entered and saved under a name, and then reviewed in a list.

This is what the empty recording schedule looks like...

...and here it is with the recording times.

The time-shift feature allows you to record a show in the background while watching parts of that show that have already been recorded in the foreground. This lets you watch scenes you may have missed while you were getting a snack, or jump back to watch a certain key scene again-all while the recording continues in the background. This is a feature you will quickly learn to appreciate, and not just for live broadcasts.

The time-shift recording mode can be activated with a single click.

In "Silent-Mode," the card records pre-selected programs in the background without disturbing the user. While recording, it doesn't display an image or play back sound, which lets the user continue to work.

In silent mode, only a little symbol in the taskbar indicates that a recording is in progress.
