This is Cool: The Sharpie Liquid Graphite Pencil

Good to see that writing technology is still advancing, despite the fact that people aren't doing much writing these days.

This gadget doesn't contain any silicon, but it's impressed us with its technology nonetheless. Sharpie today unveiled in its blog the new liquid pencil which uses liquid graphite as opposed to the soft, solid stuff.

The advantages are that the 'pencil' writes as smoothly as a pen, but erases like a pencil. And just like any other Sharpie, the ink becomes permanent – but only when left alone for after a few days.

Just like a pen, you can click the writing tip so it won't accidently mark up the inside of your bag or pocket.

Engadget managed to get a sample and noted that the package says that the 'ink' will dry after 24-hours, not the three days as mentioned on Sharpie's blog. At any rate, it's something I wish that I had when I was going to school.

Do (college/university) students even use pen and paper anymore, or are lecture halls filled with laptops?
