Panasonic Introduces $700 Blu-ray Player

Panasonic today announced that it will soon launch a new Blu-ray player that will cost $699 but will be compatible with new ’BD-Live’ interactive features.

The set-top, which Panasonic said will be available this spring, is the company’s third-generation Blu-ray player. Model DMP-BD50, the player will support lossless Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and Picture-in-Picture features.

are you kidding me? you can get a blu-ray player AND a gaming console for about half that. what are these people thinking!?

The PS3 does not support TrueHD and DTS Master Audio. It does however support BD-Live
