11. Screen Brightness, Contrast And Uniformity

Here are our measures of screen brightness, contrast and uniformity of brightness for the Sony VAIO VGN-T350P laptop computer, the Fujitsu Lifebook and the Toshiba Portege.

Sony VAIO VGN-T350P spatial uniformity of brightness plot
Screen Brightness, Contrast And Uniformity: Conclusions

With a maximum brightness score of 149, the Sony VAIO VGN-T350P's display is very bright indeed. The display's contrast ratio of 338 is attributable both to the brightness of its whites (149 cd/m^2 average) and the darkness of its blacks (0.44 cd/m^2 average).

All of that brightness and darkness come together to give the VGN-T350T one of the best looking displays we have ever seen on a laptop computer. The display is perfect for working in various levels of room light and even works pretty well outside in light shade. And, it really does justice to DVDs.

Based on both standard deviation scores for 64 brightness measures taken across their displays and a plot of these brightness measures, the VGN-T350P exhibits good spatial uniformity of brightness given its high absolute brightness level.
