Unreal Engine 3 iOS 'Infinity Blade' Coming Dec. 9
Make that smartphone GPU do something awesome.
With games now as the most popular sort of app on the iTunes app store, there's little doubt that gaming on smartphones and other devices such as the iPod touch are going to be competitors against traditional gaming platforms.
Now game developer Chair is bringing the Unreal Engine 3 in full force to iOS devices as it has announced that it will release Infinity Blade to the iTunes store on December 9, 2010.
Taking handheld gaming to new heights, the graphically intense “Infinity Blade” is powered by Unreal Engine 3 and features adrenaline-fueled sword battles and epic boss fights set in the realm of a fully 3D castle. The game’s robust single-player mode features an intuitive combat interface and simple touch controls which enable hardcore and casual gamers alike to engage in fun, furious battles. As play progresses, players gain experience, build stats and earn more powerful items to prepare their knight for the final encounter with the game’s nemesis, the God-King. Additional content will be released free of charge via planned updates, including a fully integrated multiplayer mode, which enables players to find friends and other challengers to battle online via Game Center.
Infinity Blade will cost $5.99 and will be a universal app that will run on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 3g, and iPod touch 4g.

Graphics look amazing for a game on a phone regardless if its on iOS or Android this game looks amazing.
looks like the UDK (not a bad thing at all), i only wish i had an iphone to play it... but i don't like apple. HELP ME!!
If this is what an iPad can do then I can't wait to see what a Tegra 2 tablet can do
It's relatively sad how amazing the graphics are compared to the gameplay you get.
what about the symbian, stoopid developers
idk about anyone else but i wouldn't mind getting Fallout or Fallout 2 for the Ipod or any phone. I would just never be bored well busing or walking places again.
If they could make a game like that look THAT good on smartphone hardware.. imagine what it would look like on a PC if they put the same resources and optimizations into it! I think we are all getting gibbed.
The graphics are pretty intense, but I'm still not sold on pure touch-screen gaming. It just feels like games have to be dumbed down somewhat to be played without buttons, or any real sort of tactile response. I don't know about the iPad - I suppose it's possible that the extra screen real estate could improve that - but the idea of playing a game like that on my iPhone doesn't seem that great. Withholding final judgment until the game is released though.

This will be an on-rail game. Myst was beautiful in 1993 because it was on-rail... The gameplay will be another thing.

Like they were to be played by a controller...
Okay all seems fine but how do you control the game play ?
Wifi mouse or bluetooth mouse ?
Surely the screen is small / cramped and engaging the enemy by touching the screen might be a issue ?
Looks very nice and the price is right, offline play or online only with capped data plans ?
Is the online play on a subnet so data is not counted or $10 extra per month on contract for unlimited online game play low data usage ?
PS> my Samsung can connect to the tv screen can you do the same with the iPhone to get more viewable area + how long will the battery last playing this and cpu / gpu max loads ?
Cool, now let's see some benchmarks baby.
id SW's Rage looks pretty darn good though, so I have faith in that their game for iOS can top Epic Games' or at least be on par.
Sure looks nice, but like I really want to play a game on an iOS device.
cant wait!
