4. Closing Thoughts

There's a lot to like about the Photosmart R827. With 14 shooting modes, you're guaranteed to get good photos without knowing anything about apertures or f-stops. Yet there's enough control through exposure value adjustment, color balance, bracketing and adaptive light control that more advanced users will appreciate. We shot a number of pictures both indoors and outside on a sunny day (Figures 9 and 10).

We also tested the exposure bracketing feature and confirmed both visually, and by viewing EXIF information that the three exposures were made as expected. The panoramic in-camera stitching worked flawlessly and our macro shots exhibited good detail. Unlike some cameras that you have to tweak the exposure value to prevent blue skies from burning out, the default settings yielded photos with skies that looked like the pictures we took.

Finally, in-camera features such as panoramic stitching, red eye reduction and cropping, along with the design gallery artistic effects and borders, add to the usability and enjoyment of the camera. In all, the R827 has a lot to like, once you learn to keep your index finger out of the picture!
