To ensure that the results of hard-drive measurements are comparable with one another, a 20 GB FAT32 partition was set up on each hard drive, regardless of its theoretical maximum capacity. For each individual test, the testers installed a "clean" operating system and the respective benchmarking program on the partition. To minimize uncertainty, we ran all measurements, including the battery tests, at least three times.
