The Satellite 5205-S705 (available only in North America) has the following additional features compared to its European counterpart, the Satellite 9200-902:
Integrated TV tuner; Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP-MCE (Media Center Edition). Both features, in combination with the IR remote control, turn the Satellite 5205-S705 into a media center PC. This "Microsoft" wording refers to PCs that unite the functions of a standard PC, a TV set, a video recorder and a stand-alone DVD player.
In Europe, Windows XP MCE is not yet on the market. That, according to a Toshiba manager, is also the reason why the device has not yet been equipped with an integrated TV tuner there. However, the European model does have a graphic touchpad, the cPad.

The cPad allows things like the calendar to be displayed or, using the cPad utilities, to carry out simple calculations and enter notes directly onto the pad that can be inserted into documents later on. In practice, the tools turn out to be toys rather than resources to be taken seriously. In any case, the window scroll function may be a selling point.
