17. Battery Tests
THG calculates the operating life of the battery using three typical, everyday applications:
DVD playback: a DVD video (Apollo 13) is played and replayed until the battery is empty; Presentation: a presentation runs in a continuous loop until all of the juice is gone; Game: in this case the four game demos from 3D Mark 2001 SE served as the basis for the test.Because notebooks from Toshiba have their own very sophisticated power management tool ("Toshiba PowerSaver"), we used it instead of the standard power scheme of Windows XP. For the power saving technology of the processor (SpeedStep), we chose "Automatic" mode.

With a maximum battery operating life of three hours when running typical office applications, the Satellite is not one of the distance runners. Within the Pentium4-M camp, however, it still numbers among the good machines.
