The little Samsung V3 is a nice surprise. Its images are very good, it has a full range of functions, and only the somewhat complicated navigation system spoils the picture a bit. Apart from that, it is just fine. The only trouble is that it costs the same as the Canon A70, which does a bit better all around.
Sony DSC-P52

An excellent choice for novices and anyone who wants things easy. The DSC-P52 takes very good, clear and well-contrasted pictures. Its price is appealing. Its only failing is the zoom, which is too short-ranged.
So, Which One To Choose?
For image quality, Canon is a bit better than the others. This is also true for handling, ergonomics, functions, modes and speed. So in many respects, we feel the PowerShot A70 is the best buy in this range.
That said, while the A70 costs the same as its rivals in the USA, this is not the case in Europe, where it costs [DL1]more than the Sony DSC-P52 and Olympus C-350. Their attractive price and highly-respectable performance could topple Canon from its throne. As for Samsung, here is a definite surprise: this camera is really good. So if it throws down the gauntlet, it could be a challenger to be reckoned with.
On the other hand, in the US, the Kodak LS633 costs $100 more than the others. Given its shortcomings, this price seems a bit over the top.
