2. Other Networking
Two other networking-related products that I thought were interesting were Avocent's new LongView Wireless KVM extender and Digi's Anywhere USB.
Avocent's product was announced on Monday and uses an 802.11a-based link (with proprietary compression and AES encryption) to wirelessly link up to 24 bit XGA video, audio, keyboard and mouse to a computer up to 100 feet away. No drivers are needed and adjustments are made via an on-screen display. Suggested list is $995 and it's available now.
Digi's product has acutally been around for awhile, and was a Best of Comdex finalist last year. It can take five USB devices and connect them via a TCP/IP 10/100 Ethernet link to a remote PC. Digi's brochure uses a security-based example, connecting USB camera, fingerprint reader and keypad to a remote machine, but I'm sure you can think of plenty of other applications. Around $250 , it's widely available.
