6. Display Brightness And Contrast

The Durabook D14RY has a fairly bright display (mean brightness: 148 candelas/meter^2). Brightness ranges from 123 to 167 cd/meter^2, 44 cd/meter^2; not bad at all. The plot of spatial brightness shows a display with higher brightness in the center (more toward 167 cd/meter^2) and with brightness diminishing somewhat (toward 123 cd/meter^2) at all four edges.

The overall (mean) contrast ratio for the display is 159:1. This is good, but far from excellent (300:1 and above). Display contrast ranges from 138 to 173 cd/meter^2, 35 cd/meter^2, leading to a fairly flat spatial distribution of contrast. The plot shows this graphically.
