Nintendo's Wii HD console may be a year away from release but that doesn't mean Nintendo's going to stop talking about.
Up until its unveiling at E3 2011, most people were referring to the Wii U as the Wii HD. Despite the fact that this is not the console's name, the device's HD capabilities represent one of the most important things about the console. The original Wii was not high definition but the thought of playing our favorite Nintendo games in HD is definitely exciting.
Today the gaming giant confirmed that the console will bring with it an HD version of one of the company's most popular games: Zelda. Speaking to Kotaku's Brian Crecente during an interview, Nintendo boss Shigeru Miyamoto said of the console's HD capabilities:
"This is an HD system, our first HD system, and we want to create a real HD Zelda game for it," he said. "You will see a lot of these in-depth and deep experiences in terms of visual style. You will also see some play styles that are fun and interesting because of the play structure."
The news may not come as a surprise to those who paid close attention during E3; there was Zelda footage included in the E3 demos. However, at the time, Nintendo was very clear on the fact that the titles being shown represented real Wii U games. So while you may have already 'known' that it was coming, Miyamoto's comments serve as official confirmation that a Zelda HD is in the works. Hurray!
Nintendo intends to launch the Wii U sometime in 2012 but has not revealed how much it will charge for the console and unique touchscreen controller.

I am rooting for Metroid HD!!!
Zelda coming to the next Nintendo console?
Didn't see that one coming...

I see your sarcasm...but I'll ignore it and say I saw it coming! Lolz!
Blocky square heads in HD, man that's gonna be a sight to see!
Back_by_demand, did Nintendo piss in your Corn Flakes this morning?
And I'm trying to remember when the Legend of Zelda games had blocky, square heads. Oh, that's right, never.

You mean never like this?

Or something never like this?

I have a Wii, but never for one second assume that the graphics are great, only that gameplay is fun.
And by the way, seeing as it obviously passed you in translation, my previous comment was something called sarcasm.
sar·casm / ˈsɑrkæzəm
[sahr-kaz-uhm]
–noun
1. harsh or bitter derision or irony.
2. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark: a review full of sarcasms
So the hair was blocky and your sarcasm would have hit a point if the comment were more current. Seeing as blocky heads (rather hair) haven't been a factor for what will be 14 years, it missed the mark.
I'll be looking forward to the next Mario and Smash Brothers game as well. =)

So under the blocky hair is a perfectly round head, never mind its still blocky.
And you said never, so a time frame is irellevant.
And, I was joking, stop taking shit so serious, stress is the number 1 cause of health issues in the under 40's.
"However, at the time, Nintendo was very clear on the fact that the titles being shown represented real Wii U games."
Actually that is wrong, they said multiple times that "these are only technical demos and not real games", Reggie even made a point to say it once at the beginning of his descriptions of the show floor demos, and at the end. They haven't shown any actual WiiU games yet, only tech demos or footage from competing consoles.
I offically have a reason to buy one now.
back_by_demand is a troll. ignore his bish ass.
saying something is blocky back in the N64 days is stupid. everything was blocky back then, but zelda still looked good. I'm just surprised he didn't post up 8bit Legend of Zelda pics and say they aren't even using 3D polygons...
I just hope they make the action gameplay more difficult, and don't give so many lame hints on how to accomplish the puzzle gameplay. Zelda games have become too easy!
Cool, but please don't give us another cartoony wind waker before giving us a good visual twilight princess.

Um every character had design like that in 90's videogaming troll. Go pop some pimples.

So what you are saying is we can now look at our crappy Mii in full HD....super
be cool if it would be a launch title. seems like every zelda game takes forever to come out after launch.
Even better news would have been: Nintendo ditching consoles and now only making game controllers and games for PC.
As a pc gamer using 1920 x 1080, I find the mention of HD amusing at best.
Cool. Not interested in it myself but many around me are.
