Pamela Anderson Movie Shot With a Smartphone

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

But she's only in it for a few seconds. There's Dev Patel of Slumdog Millionaire fame for the entire thing, though!

A while back Nokia ran a contest offering one lucky guy or gal the chance to star in a movie with Pamela Anderson. Also up for grabs was the chance to star in a short with Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass). It's not clear if this video is the result of that contest, or if Nokia didn't get enough entrants and so lumped the two videos together, but the company has just released a short movie titled 'The Commute' which stars Slumdog Millionaire's Dev Patel, Charles Dance, Pam and Ed Westwick.

Shot entirely on a Nokia N8, the video runs just under eight minutes in length and is pretty impressive when you consider it was shot with a phone. As you can see from the video, the 12-megapixel, 720p camera on the N8 fares better outside than in, but really, that's a common issue for smartphone cameras. Check out the video below and be sure to le us know what you think (and whether or not Pam has still got it), below.

Nokia N8 - The Commuter, new Nokia film in mobile HD - Nokia UK

Just goes to show that you don't need expensive equipment to make a great movie.

Is Symbian^3 really that bad? I wish Tom's would do a proper review or group test of the current mobile OSs that are available... Android (2.1 and 2.2), Symbian^3, Windows Phone 7 and although I know it is available on an iPhone... but that OS as well.

Quite impressed with the quality, actually. Reminds me of a Japanese girl band filming their music video in 1080p using just a SH-07B.

Let's hope this can silence the Android/iPhone/etc. naysayers.

That car is a electric TESLA. They dubbed engine noises onto the film to make it seem "bad ass". Sad.

That car is not a Telsa, it's a Lotus EVORA. And it really does sound like that. Maybe do some research before trying to bash something Nokia did that iphone couldn't.

It was shot with the phone but the quipment used to support the camera and audio equipment is worth at least $15,000

also the video underwent extensive color correction, whitebalance correction, noise reduction in scenes when the shadows were bought up, though the contrast problem could not be fixed.

What this shows is that you can make a decent film with a cellphone if you have $15,000 worth of other equipment and a good post production team who can perform the needed correction and special effects.

A student in my class has that phone, the video quality is much worst indoors than on the professionally made film. On the film you can see that they were using very bright directional lights to maintain the shadows and lowered the exposure on the camera to still make it look like a dimly lit hallway. thats why the shadows and highlights are exaggerated, the camera does not have the dynamic range to offer a smooth color and luminance.

So sure you can do a good film with a cellphone but it is not practical. the main difference between a $200 camera and a $200,000 camera is image quality and depth of field

the cameras we have in our phones are much better than the cameras we had in the 60's, but guess what, there are still many good movies from the 60's

the cameras does not make the movie, the crew makes the movie.
Have a 12 year old student shoot a video of a car chase and have a professional who has been filming for years do the same with the same phone and you will have 2 completely different videos.

Why would I in America by a Nokia phone? No droid? No WP7? No iOS. Who wants to drop down the cash for a 4th rate operating system.

Well there goes seven minutes and 30 seconds of my life. Why is Tom's Guide calling this a Pam Anderson movie anyway? She was barely an extra.

Obviously just a paid advertisement, not really anything news worthy.
