Nintendo Now Advertising on Real Bananas
Nintendo is advertising on bananas.
This sounded like a farce at first, but the claims made by Craziest Gadgets apparently are true: Nintendo is advertising on Chiquita bananas. Instead of the normal Chiquita sticker, there's actually a special Nintendo Wii Super Monkey Ball Step and Roll sticker in its place.
The good news is that Nintendo isn't in dire straits, resorting to advertising on bananas to spike Wii-generated revenue. The banana advertisement is actually part of the Super Bananas Sweepstakes, with the grand prize providing a 50-inch HDTV, the Nintendo Wii console, the Wii Balance Board, a family room couch, four gaming chairs, and a bunch of other banana-themed goodies.
The total grand prize package is worth around $3,300 USD.
To enter, head here. The sweepstakes is open to US residents aged 13 and above, and you can only enter once before the May 1, 2010 deadline. Unfortunately, the actual stickers on the Chiquita bananas won't reveal a magic ticket or some cool prize-- they just provide a link to the sweepstakes website.
But even if you're not a Nintendo fan, the grand prize sounds worth a few moments of your time on the sweepstakes' site. We promise we won't tell all your die-hard PC gaming buddies.

Seems odd that they're giving away a 50" HDTV with a Wii, since they seem to be completely against the whole HD thing..
I noticed these stickers last week on some bananas I bought at Wal-Mart. I pointed it out to my roommate haha.
Too bad the Wii don't even do 720p.
.
That is too bad, because I would have eaten a lot more bananas for a chance to win. Oh well, there goes another reason to eat healthy...

Well it's hard to find a big-screen SD TV anymore.
i don't understand what they will get associating a banana with the wii... how is this a good marketing technique? i love Nintendo, but this makes absolutely no sense.
is it just me or the 'Show' & 'Hide' button aren't working as they should be...
..& this has been going on for days...
uh..is Tom's being hacked?
My "Show" button doesn't work on Chrome.
Anyway, bananas huh. That's fine to me.

I noticed this too... Show/Hide hasn't worked since, uhm, Tuesday I think. It doesn't work on Chrome 4.0.249.89, FF3.6, or IE8, IE6 doesn't work and also gives script errors. Also, changing pages on the comments screen pulls me back to the top of the page with the aforementioned browsers.
they do it because they know most people want hd tv's even if their systems can't handle it.
If you 'read the comments on the forum' the show/hide buttons work. They're broken here, and I'm assuming it's being worked on.
for a second I thought they were going to announce a new Donkey Kong game
Oh god, now advertisements are in our produce. Seriously, where is the line?
maybe the 50" tv is SD since they are against HD or maybe they are getting you ready for the new wii hd for 2025 from now
