Mouse Concept Uses Toes, Not Fingers

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

This wireless optical mouse is controlled by toes.

The Flip Flop Mouse is a peripheral designed for PC users unable to use their upper limbs. The optical device is rather small, and slips in between the big toe and second like a plastic toy flip-flop. At first glance, the device actually resembles a miniature jet ski, donning a seat and a handle bar for toe Internet surfing.

According to the Yanko Design, the wireless mouse has a left and right keystroke which can be clicked by the big toe and second toe separately. The two toes actually grip the clamp in the mouse to move horizontally, or up and down. Unfortunately, very little information was provided, however Yanko Design offers a handful of screenshots.

Currently there's no indication that the designer will create a gamer version, or if the device will even becomes a full-scale product.

Great for people without upper limbs or just lacking control of them, nice idea to make computers a little bit more accessible.

Completely useless for normal folk though, unfortunately.

Don't think it would be very precise. Although, that's more the fault of less fine motor control in the feet than a fault of the actual hardware.

Could be handy for using the mouse without having to take your hands off the keys. You could be sipping your energy drink while simultaneously playing your favorite FPS without skipping a beat.

i can see how this would be useful for people who have lost their arms, or arm control, but this begs the question of how would they use a keyboard.

This device will give FPS gamers an unfair advantage as they will start to utilize both hands and feet to play :P

I think it might be a good idea for everyone, leave your hands on the keyboard, you know?

great idea especially for handicap people, it will most likely be once smelly piece of computer hardware. But over all great idea.

Couldn't you do this with any old wireless mouse, really? I can control my mouse with my foot right now... It's a little hard to back up, but I could manage if I took the time to get used to it... At worst you could just hot-glue an old strap of belt to hook your heel in...
