As the age old adage goes, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!" AT&T has hit back at Verizon with a new commercial featuring actor Luke Wilson.

Yesterday the court denied AT&T a temporary restraining order to prevent competitor Verizon Wireless from airing commercials that show a side-by-side comparison of AT&T and Verizon's respective 3G coverage maps.

In an attempt to neutralize the Verizon commercials, AT&T has released its own advertisement highlighting all of the things that make AT&T's 3G network, "A better 3G experience."

Apparently all Verizon is good at is having a name beginning with the letter 'v'.

"A better 3G experience."

I suppose if you enjoy a terrible experience, it might be better for you...

Yeah, I don't even know what a "3G experience" is. Being on AT&T's 3G network is definitely an experience but something tells me that's not what they were trying to say. . .

lol half of those things are because of the iphone. At&t would be F***ed without it!

id like to know how AT&T can prove that. it didn't say that they had a independent party do a survey or anything.

I think Verizon should counter-sue for AT&T's claims of the "fastest 3G network." Where's the evidence for that?

And no talk and surf? I can take a dump, talk, and surf at the same time. I dunno why AT&T claims I couldn't.

Most popular smartphones? As in iFone, iFone 3G, and iFone 3GS??? Well, I would count them as one. So smartphone wouldn't be plural... but on technicality, ok, let's give AT&T that one. But the best has nothing to do with a popularity contest.

100k apps? Does that also factor in all the redundant and useless apps? And gVoice being "in review" means 100k apps are useless, cause the most necessary app is not approved.

I agree! And what does the number of apps and the actual phone have to do with the underlying 3g technology and its speed/availability? AT&T just trying to trump the iPhone.

Verizon: We are the best wireless carrier, and here's why...
AT&T: We've got the iPhone.
Verizon: That's cool, but we've got better...everything else.
AT&T: But we've got the iPhone. Win.

AT&T - They've got the iPhone.

That would be the fade out.

Haha you beat me to it! I heard "The IPhone" the whole time through. Why the hell would I want to talk and surf the web at the same time? I guess "There is shit for that"...

Their commercial should say, "Do you want an iPhone? Well then you pretty much have to."

Exactly!

I have to admit, if Sprint was in my area...I'd drop "...that has a V in it" quicker than shit!

To be honest none of these companies are very nice or treat their customers properly. Why would they treat their competition any better?

Helio was the closest I ever found. They were bought, and now they suck too.

But even if any of this WAS true [shame on you luke wilson!], it's basically only true if you're a hip enough twenty-something to be living in a populated area. What's AT&T's coverage, like 10% of the US?

Verizon COULD sue AT&T for "false and misleading advertisement" because AT&T never mentioned iPhone in that ad anywhere....

I think microsoft should have sued apple after it's first couple of "i'm a mac" commercials... but they haven't.

How much is a data plan on verizon anyhow? I was looking and the only thing i could find was like $89.00/month.

I'm an iphone 3g user and mostly happy except... come on... why don't i have flash player and java capabilities? I should have a full web browsing experience but I don't. Still happy w\ my weather and maps app, and easy email access.

$30/mo for unlimited data onto the handset, when added to an existing voice plan.

ROFL. Yeah after they arent the only iPhone retailer, lets see how many of those points still hold up.

Their 3G might be "faster" but then again its non-existent in the majority of the area Verizon provides 3G.

If you consider Old School a good movie...

Heck, his only good movie is Rushmore.

Wow, AT&T pretty much gave up any right to sue Verizon ever again with that pouty sore loser comeback. It's one hundred times more worthy of a lawsuit than what Verizon did. When I was researching carriers, I saw that same blue map on the AT&T website for 3G coverage. So what is there to sue about? Let's get real, AT&T does the monopoly on the iPhone thing and they think they are the victims? Put together a better network and offer it with a simple and fair price and it won't matter what Verizon jabs about.

As for the MS / Mac commercials, no doubt Apple has witty and well done ads. MS ads make you scratch your head and wonder what the hell was that? They are really pointless and odd commercials. Whoever writes MS commercials needs to be admitted for psychiatric help. Seriously. It's not that I think Apple has bad products, I simply hate others telling me what I think I should have and then charge me a premium for it. So, incredibly bumbling MS commercials and all, I still prefer oddly Gates capitalism over patronizing Jobs socialism.

It was an advert for their 3g network in response to Verizon's ads.

Listing the iphone's features has nothing to do with their infrastructure.
