I’m lucky to live near plenty of amazing hiking spots, but the weather here rarely plays ball. Because of that, I need kit that can genuinely handle all conditions. The hood on this Rab jacket adjusts both ways, fits over a helmet if that’s your thing, and the peaked brim gives your face its own little rain awning. The sleeves bend properly, so you can actually move without feeling like you’re fighting your clothes.

The zippers don’t flap out in the storm, and the underarm vents help you dump heat when you hit a hill and instantly regret every snack choice you’ve ever made.
