Android finally steals the ability to undo texts from iMessage — and it's rolling out now

For a few years, iPhone owners have had the ability to unsend texts in iMessage, and now, Android users are getting a similar option thanks to RCS messaging. The feature, called "Undo Send" is rolling out now.

The feature was hinted at earlier this year with code discovered in the Messages app. At the time, the app had a "delete for me" option as well as a "delete for everyone" option.

According to Android Authority, beta testers seemingly got access to Undo Send in May. It wasn't clear then if the option would only be limited to group chats or one-on-one texts.

While the feature may be rolling out, I haven't seen an official announcement from Google.

It appears the feature is rolling out now. So, when you're messaging over RCS, you can choose between the Me and Everyone options. You highlight one of your texts and then tap the trash icon that pops up.

What we don't know right now are the limitations. While the feature may be rolling out, I haven't seen an official announcement from Google. For example, you have a fairly lengthy two minutes to delete a sent text in iMessage.

It's still a good idea to consider what you're texting before hitting that send button. But you may be able to undo it before someone sees or snaps a screenshot.

What if you don't have the feature?

My daily driver is a Galaxy S22 Ultra, and it doesn't appear to have received the update yet. However, Google just announced the Pixel 10 series, and Samsung is working through the Galaxy S25 lineup this year. Those newer devices are likely to get first dibs.

If your Android device hasn't received the undo option yet, give it a few days, as Google rollouts can take a week or so to land on every device.
