IKEA has just unveiled its Color of the Year 2026 — and it’s not what I was expecting
IKEA is typically associated with minimalism, Scandi-style and neutral color palettes, which is why the announcement of its Color of the Year for 2026 might come as a surprise.
The brand has just declared Rebel Pink! as IKEA’s Color of the Year for 2026. This playful colorway was chosen for its energy, joy and promises to bring a “bold splash of color into the home.”
Additionally, IKEA is set to launch the GREJSIMOJS collection that features the new Rebel Pink colorway.
This collection includes 33 pieces that celebrate the concept of "play," reflected in its vibrant tones and quirky design. One notable redesign is the traditional MAMMUT chair, which has been given a pink furry cover.
“GREJSIMOJS is meant to be a visible part of the home furnishing, with objects that are beautifully designed to fit the home, even after the children have gone to bed,” says Anna Granath, Range Identity Leader for IKEA.
Although I could not have predicted Rebel Pink as IKEA’s Color of the Year 2026, it’s surprisingly versatile. Here are a few items that have caught my eye.
My Rebel Pink picks
If you want to brighten up your windowsill, this plant pot will add a touch of color. With its round shape and grooved-line design, these simple yet elegant pots will suit any room.
This mesh wire basket comes with a stylish wooden handle and is versatile enough to use around the home. From storing fruits and vegetables to office supplies, this also looks chic in its subtle pink colorway.
Whether you're hosting or simply want to upgrade your tableware, these dishes are eye-catching. You can use these for either baking or to serve up your tasty dishes. Plus, I like that they come with a handy lid to keep food warm.
If you want a fun and quirky mirror, this will do the trick. With its wave-shaped frame and vibrant color, I like how it's both functional and decorative. In fact, this will work well to upgrade bedrooms and hallways.
If you want a stylish Bluetooth speaker that sounds good and blends well with your decor, this is a great choice. It comes with a clear and powerful sound that can easily be enhanced by adding more NATTBAD speakers. What's more, it can be placed anywhere without looking like an eyesore.
