Summer is running out, but streaming never will. More new movies and shows to watch this weekend are arriving on Netflix, Prime Video and other streaming services. For an action-packed movie night, you could pair two blockbuster summer movies that have hit premium video-on-demand: the high-octane excitement of "F1,: The Movie" with Tom Cruise's (possibly final) global spy run in "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning."

On the small screen, the irreverent super anti-hero "Peacemaker" returns for more F-bomb-filled adventures, and the tense drama of "Hostage" promises edge-of-your-seat suspense. Whatever your mood, this lineup has something to keep you glued to the screen. Here are our top picks for new TV shows and movies to watch this weekend.

Tom Cruise is hanging up the IMF badge, but not before one last sprint across the globe. “The Final Reckoning” finds Ethan Hunt squaring off against the Entity, a rogue AI with world-ending ambitions.

Old allies (Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell) and fresh faces rally for a mission stuffed with underwater showdowns, snowy escapes and a jaw-dropping finale that once again proves Cruise is Hollywood’s greatest daredevil. The story may stumble at times, but the spectacle doesn’t. And if this really is Ethan Hunt’s last ride, it’s one hell of a curtain call.

Do you feel a need for speed? Where “Top Gun: Maverick” took to the skies, “F1” heads to the racetrack to keep your adrenaline pumping. Under direction from “Maverick’s” Joseph Kosinski, Brad Pitt takes the wheel as Sonny Hayes, a fallen star coaxed back to Formula 1 to save his old teammate’s struggling team, only to clash with rookie phenom Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris).

The story sticks to classic sports-drama beats, but the blistering race sequences turn clichés into pure spectacle. With Pitt in full movie-star form, the film burns rubber—and nearly scorches the screen.
