Finding a movie that strikes a perfect balance between haunting mystery and sharp comedy can be a rare discovery. The scene shifts to Louise working as a waitress at a local Chinese restaurant. As she peruses the newspapers — presumably searching for updates on the killer — her coworker prattles on. Eventually, the violence hits too close to home when Louise returns to work to find that very coworker has been murdered. Yet, despite the escalating body count, this isn't your classic whodunit. The mystery of the killer’s identity is secondary to the strange, evolving dynamics between these three neighbors.
As the trio grows closer, Victor begins walking Louise home and joins her for dinner with Spencer. Tensions spike when Louise believes she has a run-in with the killer on the apartment’s fire escape. However, it is a personal conflict with another neighbor involving her cats that takes the film in an unusual direction, forcing the audience to wonder if one of the central three might actually be the predator.
