Looking to cozy up with a new Prime Video series this weekend? If you're planning to unwind on the sofa this weekend, Amazon's streaming service has plenty of new releases to offer would-be viewers, especially if you're looking to get sucked into an intense crime thriller or murder mystery miniseries.
Prime Video regularly adds new original series and fresh film titles to its platform each and every month, but if you'd prefer not to waste any time scrolling through what's new or what's trending on Prime Video, I've already sorted through everything that's new on Prime Video in February and picked out three recent additions that are worth streaming.
'56 Days'
"56 Days" is an eight-episode Prime Video pitches as "a unique crime story and a riveting, sexy, psychological thriller." Based on a best-selling novel by Catherine Ryan Howard, this new series just landed on Prime Video on Feb. 18, and if you're in the mood for suspense, mystery, and some steaminess, it could be the series to binge-watch this weekend.
The series revolves around Oliver Kennedy (Avan Jogia) and Ciara Wyse (Dove Cameron), who form a relationship after a chance encounter. 56 days after their first meeting, homicide investigators appear at Oliver's apartment to find an unidentified, brutally murdered, and intentionally decomposed body, prompting some huge questions: Did Oliver kill Ciara? Did she kill him? What really happened there? "56 Days" reveals those answers by cutting between an intense single day in the investigation and the twisted trajectory of the lovers' past affair, delivering an "extremely bingeable" series, per TG's Malcolm McMillan's "56 Days" review.

'Cross'
Looking for a dark detective thriller? "Cross" is the show to stream this week. This crime thriller is based on James Patterson's Alex Cross novels, and sees Aldis Hodge stepping into the detective/forensic psychologist's shoes to tap into the psyches of murderers and their victims in order to bring those killers to justice. The first season dropped in November 2024, and saw Cross tracking a sadistic killer leaving a string of bodies across the city, while "Cross" season 2 (which had a three-episode premiere in early Feb.) sees him pursuing a ruthless vigilante who is hunting down corrupt billionaire business magnates.
At the time of writing, we are halfway through season 2, which means you've got plenty to binge-watch this weekend if you're not caught up on "Cross" just yet.

'Soul Power: The Legend of the Americal Basketball Association'
If you'd prefer some factual entertainment (or maybe you're a sports fan looking for something to watch in the run-up to March Madness), Prime Video recently dropped "Soul Power: The Legend of the American Basketball Association," which could well fit the bill.
This four-part docuseries tells "the definitive story" of the ABA. Told via the voices of "legends, cultural leaders and historians," the series explores how a collection of franchises challenged the NBA on and off the court for nine seasons, and examines the lasting impact that the ABA had on the sport, including the introduction of the 3-point shot, the addition of ABA franchises to the NBA, empowering women to play a great role in the business of pro sports, and the rise of superstar players and contributors.
