April 14 is World Quantum Day, a date designed to promote quantum technology.
Quantum computers are being billed as the next big breakthrough in computing, and they're more powerful than any computer around today.
But this also means that current encryption standards will be obsolete and post-quantum encryption is needed to protect our data. Quantum computers are not available to consumers yet, but protections are already being adopted to protect today's data from "harvest now, decrypt later" attacks in the future.
Many of the best VPNs have implemented post-quantum encryption – the new industry standard.
Some big names, including Proton VPN and Private Internet Access, are taking their time. Others, such as IPVanish, have post-quantum encryption in the works. But here are six VPNs who can protect your data with post-quantum encryption right now.
Post-quantum VPNs
Although its not widespread, there are a handful of VPNs that already provide post-quantum encryption protection.
There are VPNs at a range of prices, with multiple plans and tiers on offer. So if you're after post-quantum protection, there's bound to be a VPN for you.

Tom's Guide, and our friends at TechRadar, currently have an exclusive Surfshark deal until April 19. A 28 month plan costs $1.78 per month ($49.84 upfront pre-tax). There's a 30-day money-back guarantee and offers a 7-day free trial for all devices.

ExpressVPN adopted ML-KEM in January 2025. All platforms were supported straight away and post-quantum protection is always on when connected to its Lightway protocol. ExpressVPN has also made its implementation of WireGuard quantum secure – the protocol doesn't have native post-quantum support.
A 28 month ExpressVPN plan starts at $2.27 per month ($63.52 upfront) and comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Mullvad has a flat pricing structure, costing €5 per month (~$5.90 per month) regardless of plan length. Plus, there's a 14-day money-back guarantee for non-cash payments.
