NordVPN offers a ton of different plans with each one adding more features. Basic is what you'll want if you just need a VPN, but Plus gets you a free $20 Amazon gift card, which easily offsets the slightly higher cost.

How does NordVPN compare to other VPNs?

Seeing as NordVPN sits in the top spot of my best VPN rankings, comparisons with other VPNs often go in its favor. Features like Meshnet, Threat Protection Pro, and mega cyber insurance coverage all come together to make an excellent package – and the current deal just makes it even better. However, other VPNs may suit you better.

For example, Surfshark is a bargain alternative that offers all the core functionality, but throws in some different extras. Alternative ID is the biggest standout. Essentially, Alt ID allows you to make burner emails which forward correspondence to your real email address, but can be deleted at any time. Great for claimed newsletter discounts, and signing up to services you don't totally trust. Surfshark starts at $1.99 per month.

An even cheaper option is PrivadoVPN. It's a little rougher around the edges, but it's still reliable, and is very effective for streaming. It's a bargain at $1.11 per month ($30 all-in), but it hasn't been fully audited.

However, if you're looking for the best VPN overall, the choice is easy – go with NordVPN.
