This job is a demanding one, and it’s hard to find time to actually play my favorite games. To do so, my go-to tactic is a late night session with the Steam Deck with AR glasses in bed while my fiancée sleeps.
One thing I learned from testing all the best AR glasses in bed is that there can be a fair bit of light leak from the display prisms that wakes her up. But out of all of them, one pair had me playing for hours without disturbing the love of my life: the Viture Luma Pros.
Tested and proven to save you from a telling off, these are the key to ensuring your partner is well rested — thanks to that strong electrochromic film up front and the directed prism light! And even better, they’re $140 off at Amazon.
Make no mistake about it, this Presidents’ Day deal isn’t just a saving for the sake of it — it’s a key element to this gamer’s happy relationship.
If you're a fan of clear details on large, 135-inch screen with 120Hz refresh rate, then these Viture Pro XR glasses will do the trick. And now for well under $400! The Micro OLED display tech in the Viture Pro is simply one of the best around, backed by its 1,000 nit max brightness and minimal blurry edges. Plus, you can expect an enhanced electrochromic film right on the lenses.
Why the Viture Luma Pro?
Good question! There’s a lot of options out there like the Xreal 1S and RayNeo Air 3S Pro. All of these are great glasses that I’d wholeheartedly recommend, but we’re talking about a very specific use case here.
When I tested both of these in bed next to my fiancée, she was woken up by the subtle light leakage illuminating not just my face, but the space around the sides of my head.
With the Viture Luma Pro, the light seems to be more directed towards my eyes without much of the illumination bleeding out the sides. On top of that, the electrochromic film up front is impressively strong — which helps eliminate light emanating from the front.
Combine that with that razor sharp 1200p resolution and screen fidelity, wide 50-degree field of view and luscious color science of the panel, and you’ve got an all-in-one subtle entertainment system that brings a massive panel to bed without waking your partner.
Just make sure you do two things. First, turn off that side RGB on the arms of the glasses. And second, use earbuds — speakers on AR glasses do have significant sound leakage and you will get told off for playing Persona 5 at 1am.
