2. Coffee Proof But Don't Throw It In The Washing Machine

The Eleksen is a full-sized keyboard and keys like Ctrl, Del and Alt are in the right place. Because it's designed for multiple devices you don't get specific keys like the Windows key but there's a set of useful shortcuts (Alt Up arrow for the Windows key, for example).

The plastic case for the two AAA batteries and the Bluetooth radio is the only thing that isn't made of fabric; it's handy for rolling the keyboard up with and it stops it slipping around while you type. You also get a simple but very effective plastic stand which folds flat but holds any PDA or phone at the right angle for you to see the screen while you're typing. Eleksen promises ten hours of typing from two batteries, which will probably last you a few weeks (Bluetooth does use more power on your device too).

Bend it, twist it, spill coffee on it; this fabric keyboard is tough and flexible.

If you don't have a QWERTY keyboard on your mobile or you find it difficult to use for long messages, the Eleksen keyboard is quite literally the flexible alternative. It's far from perfect and definitely slower than a notebook keyboard - but considerably faster than no keyboard at all. If your mobile does all you need apart from typing, this could let you leave your notebook behind. I wrote most of this review with it on an iPAQ in Mobile Word. And it's so small and light you'll never mind having it in your bag.

You can find the Eleksen keyboard at www.skymall.com or www.cyberguys.com.
