The 5,400 RPM drive MK8026GAX by Toshiba is especially able to deliver high data transfer rates. The drive also comes with a striking 16 MB cache memory, which has already been used by Toshiba on several prior drive generations.
This large cache does not seem to have much impact on the benchmark results. The MK8026GAX does not do well in IOMeter, and in SYSmark 2004 the fast Toshiba drive is only able to compete in the Communication and 3D Creation segments. Overall, we found the drive scoring a bit lower than it should; there is room for improvement here.
