Los Angeles (CA) - After a couple delays and even some skepticism over whether it would actually launch, LG Electronics has finally released its new dual-format high-def disc player.

The BH200 is now available at big box retailers and at several online stores. It is the second player from LG that allows users to play Blu-ray Disc, HD DVD, and standard DVD movies with a single disc tray.

LG is currently the only company that has released a dual player in the US. It launched the BH100 earlier this year. Samsung, however, is planning to release its own combo player before the end of the year.

The BH200 adds complete compliance with interactive HD DVD features, a specification the first one missed. The new player also has BG Profile 1.1, becoming only the second device to do so. Panasonic’s DMP-BD30, which launched a few weeks ago, was the first.

The retail price is around $1000, the same price as the BH100 when it first launched.
