New untethered jailbreak hack could also work on the iPad. Could the iPad be hacked on day 1?
Famed iPhone hacker George Hotz has updated his blog with a short notice that he's created an untethered jailbreak hack for iPhones and iPod Touches. Such a jailbreaking package means that a piece of software, once loaded onto the Apple device, can open the door to running non-Apple approved software without being connected to a computer to complete the hack.
Perhaps even more exciting for those who wish to run their iDevices outside of Apple's garden is that Hotz believes that the hack will work on the iPad as well.
Hotz wrote, "The jailbreak is all software based, and is as simple to use as blackra1n. It is completely untethered, works on all current tethered models(ipt2, 3gs, ipt3), and will probably work on iPad too. … Don't ask about a release date. You won't make it happen any sooner."
Check out video proof of it below.

It's pretty sad that you have to hack your new product out of the box just to make it work like any other PC on the market. Why don't you save yourself the hassle and just buy a DIFFERENT tablet that already gives you the functionality you wanted in the first place?
Or don't buy tablets... Unless you're an artist or play too much bejeweled. But, in that respect, neither customer would be any more efficient using this gimmick.
