Each of Canon's big EOS, Ixus, Powershot, and Pixma product lines is receiving new model updates.

The new EOS-1Ds Mark III is aimed at professional photographers. As befits a flagship product, this camera comes with impressive specifications, such as a full frame image sensor and a 21 mega pixel resolution. As a result, uncompressed images can easily surpass the 100 MB mark.

The camera features everything that makes a good professional DSLR: a 5 fps speed, RAW mode, 19-point autofocus in a cross-shaped configuration, a display with a live preview, noise reduction in the CMOS chip, aperture metering with 63 (!) zones, etc.

However, the price of € 8,200 also reflects the camera's professional orientation. Canon's new professional DSLR flagship will be available starting October.

If that is outside your budget but you're still looking for a serious digital SLR camera, you might find what you're looking for in the new EOS 40D, which comes with a € 1,300 price tag. Its main features are a live-preview display, 10 million pixels, and a 6.5 fps speed.

Canon is also updating its Ixus lifestyle line of cameras. New additions are the Digital Ixus 860 IS and 9601 IS. The Powershot family gains no less than four new members: G9, A650 IS, A720 IS, and SX100 IS. This last model is designed as a super-zoom model.

In addition, Canon is showing its new HD-camcorders HR10 and HG10 at IFA 2007. While the HR10 writes to DVD, the HG10 uses a hard disk.

Meanwhile, the Pixma line of inkjet printers and multi-functional devices is slowly but surely becoming cluttered. New additions include the MP210, MP220, MP520, MP610, MP970, MX300, MX700, and MX310 models.

Canon is also showing its projectors, multi-function laser systems, and scanners in its tent just outside of the IFA exposition halls.
