7. Cardinal Rules of a Good Commish
John Scally of New Jersey works in public relations, but at this time of year, he – like many other fantasy football fans – takes on what can seem like a second full-time job. He has been a fantasy football commissioner for more than eight years, using several of the major sites. He likes Yahoo! the best. Here are his top-five rules for success as a commissioner:
1. Set a fair scoring system. Leagues that have an unbalanced scoring system don’t keep team participants long term. Players know when the fix is in.
2. Create a legacy league. Try to keep participants consistent from year to year. This creates rivalries and grudge matches.
3. Communicate. Look ahead and recap emails. Send group emails promoting games of the week and praise participants who made the move of the week, like starting a backup who scores big.
4. Enforce. Get on participants who don’t update teams, especially as the season nears the end. Participants who have last place teams lose interest, and that hurts everyone.
5. Keep records year to year and post on the Web. Folks like to play for history.
Football???
Aren't they using their hand here? I guess that is called handball then? But oh, handball is played without protection, so what is this?
A show?
Viva BloodBowl - way cooler than this thing ... and I played it more than 10 years ago already.
What's the point of american football if you't kill your opponents and bribe the referee? It does need some sence of realism, and bribes and fouls are the cornerstones of reallife sports ....
