6. Simple But Expensive Memory Upgrade

Upgrading the hard drive and RAM and retrofitting a WLAN module is very simple, thanks to covers that unscrew.

Toshiba has already integrated the corresponding WLAN antennas (802.11a or 802.11b) into the machine. The user need only insert the WLAN module into the free slot (the red rectangle in the picture) to surf away wirelessly.

As can be seen in the picture, both RAM slots (2x 256 MB DDR 2100) are already filled. If the memory is expanded to 786 MB or even to 1 GB, the user has no choice but to take the expensive upgrade path and add one or two 512 MB modules.

We tested the Satellite 5205-S705 with the configuration given in the table.
