11. Logitech Z-680

Logitech made a brilliant impression with their Z-560 speakers, a THX-certified system with unprecedented power and zing. Our main gripe with the Z-560 lay in the fact that it was a 4.1 system, not a 5.1. Apparently having listened to the market, Logitech decided to give the next generation that sixth voice that the Z-560 lacked. But they didn't stop there. The new system is still pretty powerful, but the Z-680 also has the advantages of a Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder and DTS! To fit these in, Logitech have given the Z-680 a SoundTouch Control Center that is much bigger than a satellite and contains the connector sockets as well as control knobs and even a small, blue LCD screen. The connections are those needed by any multipurpose system with a decoder, namely, three analog minijack inputs, an optical S/ PDIF input and a coaxial S/ PDIF input. There are a headphone output and an auxiliary input socket on the front of the control center.
