Sony Does Not Even Say The Words 'Playstation 3' At CES Press Conference
Las Vegas (NV) - Sony talked a lot about its less highlighted divisions at today’s press event, but said absolutely nothing about the PS3 and only mentioned the PSP in passing.
In fact, the only time video games were even mentioned was when Sony introduced the W760 Walkman mobile phone, which has two dedicated gaming buttons and a "tilt" control feature that recognizes when the user physically tilts the phone.
It is part of the general feel of CES this year. So far there appears to be much less focus on the "hot ticket" items. There is, instead, significantly more attention on things like mobile TV, Internet-powered portable devices, and other sophisticated concept technologies.
Sony did mention that the company as a whole saw a good year in 2007. On that note, the decision not to talk about the PS3 or PSP could have been because Sony’s gaming division has been one of its poorest sections.
We will have a complete write-up of the Sony press conference later tonight.
