CES 2008: Archos introduces TV Wi-Fi DVR
Archos, best known for its line of portable media players, introduced a new product at CES 2008 called TV+, which combines a traditional digital video recorder with a wireless receiver and media center capability.
The Archos TV+ itself is a small silver and white box that will fit inside most TV cabinets and comes with a square, keyboard style remote that fits in the palm of your hand. The TV+ comes in two editions - an 80 GB hard drive version for $249.99 and a 250 GB hard drive for $349.99. Both versions are Wi-Fi enabled and allows users to serve the Web (via free Opera Web browser), stream digital music and play photo slideshows from your home network. The system also allows users to download movies wirelessly from the Internet and also record television shows using the DVR feature.
The system can also be easily connected via USB hubs to Archos’ portable media players (Generation 3, 4 and 5 products). Thus, users can download television shows from the TV+ hard drive to their Archos devices for portable use. Users can also connect via the Web to CinemaNow to purchase and download feature films. The TV+ also has a feature called TV Program Guide that will provide a personalized schedule of television shows from the user’s individual cable provider. The DVR feature records in VGA resolution of 640 x 480 and has and multiple TV outputs, including HDMI.
The Archos TV+ will be available in North America this month.

Archos is full of S&%#! You purchase the product and then have to purchase a plugin to actually take advantage of the features of the over priced product. The inital purchase should include at least one or two of the plugins... I have been trying to add the channel list to my Archos TV+ since 2/09. When I call tech support I get the same drawn out excuse that the server is down. My last call was 10/7/09 and Archos is still feeding me the same BULL. The box is useless and a very expensive knick knack for my TV.
