Nikon Capture 4, the software for editing RAW files and controlling Nikon digital cameras from a PC, is supplied with the D70s, but only in a 30-day trial version. Control via PC is only of interest to studio photographers, and in the case of the D70s, the limited speed of the USB interface is an enormous handicap. However, the processing of RAW files is very effective, with many elaborate functions you don't find elsewhere. Nikon Capture does hog resources, though - a very powerful PC is necessary for decent speed - and its memory management leaves a lot to be desired.

Nikon Capture has almost limitless possibilities for working on NEF (RAW) images. But it's a resource hog...
Whether you choose the 350D or the D70s, if you work in RAW format - which we can't recommend too highly for demanding users - you should consider a program like RawShooter. It allows both fast sorting and effective processing - at least once you've figured out its rather specific approach and ergonomics - and has the advantage of currently being free. It also has speed going for it, even on a PC that's not especially powerful, and supports multi-threading so you can get on with your work while a task is being completed. Try it!

A clear display, remarkable ergonomics, and effective correction... You should try Rawshooter! .
