Obama Gets to Keep BlackBerry
Obama and BlackBerry stay together.
When Obama was voted into office, the new President-elect was told he’d have to give up his BlackBerry 8830 for something a little less data-capable. Besides the obvious security concerns should he lose his phone or otherwise have his data compromised, the Presidential Records Act of 1978 requires all Presidential correspondence be in the public record and so, a smartphone was something the President was not allowed to have.
Obama was not exactly pleased at the prospect of having his phone taken away and on many occasions hinted that he was doing his best to talk the secret service into letting him keep the device.
MobileCrunch today reports that President Obama has won the battle. Well, sort of. He still can’t use the BlackBerry for Presidential business but Obama is allowed to keep the device for “personal use” provided he uses Sectera Edge for work.
The Sectera is basically a monster that has been deemed secure enough to transmit “secret” data. Seriously, I for one cannot wait to hear how this beast is working out for the President. Lets hope he shares his experiences on using the device once he gets his hands on it.
During the campaign Obama also supposedly used his BlackBerry to check up on the things outside of his work, such as the progress of the Chicago White Sox so at least he can still do that on his preferred device.

I think that we should start calling it the BarackBerry.
What a laod of CRAP. Who in their right mind believes that Barack Obama, King of Chicago Politics is going to be using his Blackberry for just your every day kind of things, like what the weather is like, who is winning the world series and not using it doing things more in line like Blagojivick? I hope someone gets his phone code and is able to eavesdrop on him and drop some really nasty stuff about his "personal" use of the device. White hat hackers have cracked these things, and there is no reason to think that there is not going to be any BLACK HAT HACKERS out there who will not find the prospect of having blackmail level details about our president's "personal" life. Not that I think there is not already enough blackmail level details about Barack out there that some people have access to in order to pull his strings.
I feel like the only sane person left in a country rapidly moving towards third world nation level corrupted politics.
Bone Squat you are a fraking asshat of a troll for that comment.
Bone Squat your a fraking trolling asshat for that comment
You are the equivalent of the 2 day old dog sh!T stuck on your front porch.
Get a clue. Better yet. Die.
LOL the only sane person in the U.S. is "A Stoner" LOL if your going to talk serious at least try to do it with a more sane name. if McKain got elected then the U.S. would be heading to 3rd world politics faster at least with Obama the U.S. has a chance for change from the Republicans continuing to ruin that country. Hell now that Bush is out of office I think he should be brought up on war crimes for the mess he made of Iraq

I second that
I think that we should start calling it the BarackBerry.
I did not like McCain either. But I seriously doubt that McCain would put the USA in danger by demanding to keep a peice of technology that is not secure and thus puts the United States in danger. While Barack may posibly keep it to "personal" use, just imagine the types of "Personal" conversations someone with his access to top secret information might be having. The truth of the mater is that if Barack Obama was not president, he could not have the job I have because the government would never give him a secret clearance. This is about security, and if it was a Republican demanding to keep an unsecure device as president I would be just as upset, in fact more so, because I expect Democrats/liberals to not put our country's security first.
Senators have used Blackberrys for years, I don't see them less susceptible to outside influence, granted, senators don't make the decisions the president does. I'm pretty certain the NSA have made sure Obama's sectera device is hacker proof.
People getting worked up over this are redicilious... To a Stoner, there is no reason he should be able to keep it for personal reasons... You claim to have a secret clearance, are you allowed to keep what ever phone you want for personal reasons? I know for a fact you are. I have no doubt that there have been ground rules laid out for proper use for him to be allowed to keep it..
One small step for a techno-savvy president, one giant leap for oppressed geeks everywhere.
Now that we have threshold status at the apex of the US political structure, perhaps we can make inroads elsewhere. Personally, I am growing weary of fighting the laptop battle with my professors - and going nuts with the bias of producing electronic versions and having to buy packets and books printed on virgin paper. It is time to move past the Paper Age into the Digital Age!
I think that we should start calling it the BarackBerry.
I might get a BarackBerry Storm soon. That thing is almost a sexy as the man.

The ONLY reason he wouldn't endanger the country's security with new technology is, that he's so fucking old that he has yet to realize electricity exists.
I'm very positive about the us choice of obama. For the last 8 years the us public has fucked up the world by letting bush's tampered elections go thru unchallenged. Now the amandmend that prevents him from fucking up for another 4 years has stopped him, it would be stupid to elect a mummy that would take the country back to a pre-industrial state. Let Obama show what he can do. Let him use the technology instead of run from it like all his predecessors. Show the world, and us europeans, that north america isn't as hopeless as it has appeared to us for the last 8 years.
Well, we Asians will keep a keen eye to see if Obama can bring the US to at least EU's 20-years-behind-Asia level of technology penetration.
Well, I think the reason people from countries outside the USA always sound so retarded is because they do not do any research that backs up any of their claims about America.
McCain was on the Senate Panel that deals with technology and is in fact very up to date with everything technological.
Please tell me one thing that America fucked up in the world? Iraq was justified. Al Qaeda attacked us and thus Afganistan is justified. Bush was not the only person involved in decisions on how America acts. It also has 435 Representatives and 100 Senators as well as 9 supreme court justices. Already Barack Obama is spending his first days messaging how much like Bush he is going to act. Sure, he will maybe close Guantanomo, but the use of waterboarding is reserved if we have the right people in custody. Sure, we need to get rid of the shadow CIA bases around the world, but if they become needed again Barack is ready to reauthorize them. If you think America is one person, the president, you are a retard. We are 300,000,000 people. We got two bad choices from our primary season for presidential election, and sadly I think we chose the worst of two evils. If you think America with Barack is going to make nice nice will all the rest of the world, you should probably go and actually look at who Barack Obama is as a human. Every single one of his statements comes with an expiration date and just wait until he hooks one of your retarded countries into a deal and then the expiration date arrives and he leaves you dangling there. Bush never once told another country one thing with the intent of doing another thing. Not with Iraq, not with afganistan, nothing. If he made a deal, he stuck with it. Wait until you make deals with the great "Every Statement I Make Comes With An Expiration Date" Obama.
Let Obama show what he can do? How about we elect people that have actually done something in their lives and have PROVEN they can get things done. Obama has zero executive experience and less than 200 days in the Senate and now he holds the position with the most responsibility on the entire planet. GG we're screwed.

The other phone is kinda of cool, a little big though.
Looks a lot like the BB 7520.
I actually don't see a problem with expiration dates.
It makes things more realistic and sets a goal.
If its another country simply means get your shit together
before this date because money isn't free and you
wont be receiving ours for ever. We dish out billions and
billions to other countries not necessarily billions in actual
dollars but when you talk about man hours, necessitates for life
and so on its billions.
Having dates holds us and him accountable unlike some previous
people lets just spend money with no actual real goal, no budget.
Better yet lets spend money we dont even have and lets make
very very shallow goals/generic goals. To try to make yourself
look good after you realize that maybe we could have went
about the whole war a completely different way. Considering
we have yet to get numero uno.
Better yet The Iraq Most wanted list is like 95% to 98%
complete either captured or dead.
Sounds good and all accept Al-Qaeda 45% MAYBE complete
either captured or dead.
I dont have a problem with the war Im not naive to fact
of what was going on and we needed to intervene, but dude
we went to war on the principal that we would get the dude
thats been bragging about how he has been blowing shit up
since the early 90's offically bragging got tons of videos
basically saying suck my beard Americans.
Its like seriously its not that we cant just get Numero Uno
But we cant even get any of his top officals its sad and
starting a War for that reason and not actually focusing
on that reason is just weak.
(For the record im not against the War what happen needed
to happen the shit that has happen in the past and what
was continuing to happen plus hiding al-Qaeda could not
be tolerated. Saying the dude Had Weapons of Mass Desruction
with no actual proof lol just priceless.)
