Last week we posted pictures of the Zune HD and a lot of you were suitably impressed, even going as far as to say you were seriously considering buying one. But how much will Microsoft's new PMP set you back and when can you get your hands on it?
Screenshots from Best Buy's inventory system over at Gizmodo suggest the Zune HD will be going on sale on September 8, just 28 days from now. Pricing is also shown in the shots and if these photos are to be believed, you're looking at $220 for the 16 GB version and $290 for the 32 GB version.
Now that you know what it looks like, what it does, and how much it costs, are you tempted? A lot of you loved the device but had an issue with the software, which was a deal breaker. Will you be buying a Zune HD in four weeks? Let us know in the comments below!

i'm excited over this upgraded Zune...
i had ipod nano and liked scroll wheel but it just didn't have anything extra besides playing music...
i would like full-featured music player and didn't want to get another ipod due to lack of FM radio and expensive add-ons....
I'm surprised at the price tag!!! It's good because the Touch has half the memory that you are paying the Zune HD which has 16GB. The only thing I still ask myself is: do I need to install the big zune software to operate it? Other than that, I think I might get one!
If 32GB is the biggest being offered, then I absolutely will upgrade! If there's bigger, however, i'm going for that
they should make it sync with itunes like the palm pre does haha
thats a pretty nice price considering the 32gb ipod touch is an insanely $400. can't believe how an extra 24GB can be $180 more. and im glad the zune hd doesn't have a camera. cellphones, digital cameras, portable gaming devices, and mp3 players are all integrating to be one device.

I would take the Zune software over iTunes any day! IMO it provides much better media management than iTunes, and has better performance on a Windows machine.
Wow. A good PMP without apple tax. I'm excited. I think I'll need to find someone to buy my Ipod Touch first though.
I wonder when the Apple fanbois will come bitching. I bet they will complain about how bad HD radio was 4 years ago and therefore hd radios are useless. So behind the times...
32gb?! That's nothing to me, sorry.
I have over 50gb of music on my computer and still rising.
I'm gonna buy it. I was gonna get a new iTouch, but nVidia Tegra? dang, Zune HD all the way!
It looks great, but I have a habit of dropping stuff like that into beer. I destroyed a $1200 camera that way once; I'm now wary about carrying expensive tech around. (especially at bachelor parties)

Talking about destroying tech products. I have a habit of throwing cellphones into wash machines. Two in this year so far. That's part of the reason why I prefer heavier and bulkier gadgets in general.
I'm in! It would be nice to have a 64GB version though.
I'm seriosly tempted if I can round up the extra doh! playing movies in 720p would be great especially when I'm going on long road trips; seems like a great investment
I've been holding off buying a new media player since my old once died, so the near $300 price tag doesn't phase me a bit. The Zune HD appears to have everything that I want in a media player: good quality video with a decent size screen, good quality play back (and, of course all the usual MP3 player bells and whistles), HD radio, wi-fi, etc. The only thing that would make it better is if it were also a cell phone; then I would only have to carry one device.
Pretty small storage for he price i think i will stick with my archos screen is much bigger and higher resolution.
Im currently in the market for a new player. I have a iPod 5th gen 30GB but its getting run down and ive already replaced the battery twice. Im actuall pretty sick of iTunes and i have been using the newest Zune software.
I have to say they have made alot of improvements since I first checked it out. Its actually pretty impressive. I started using it for my home theater because iTunes doesnt integrate over my network, but Zune works great with my HTPC, My sons Xbox 360, and my 360. All from my main in my bedroom.
im definently getting one, but ima wait and see if there are any sales before the hollidays and to see if there is anything wrong with the initial launch product.
I'm in for one. I've been waiting for this for sometime now. I have HD radio in my car and I love it. I'd get it just for being a portable HD radio. That and it having a touch screen OLED display (new technology and awesome on powersaving). Ever since Zune updated firmware and marketplace I've enjoyed it even more. I think I listen to music less and watch and listen to podcast even more. Now if only they could get books on tape.

So what's your solution, Mister Big Spender (I'll assume you rip your own CDs)? Pair a couple of iPods in a raid 0 array? Carry a Netbook with headphones?
For me, the Zune HD might be the next big thing, especially with that price tag!
I'll stick with my 32gb 3gs iPhone thanks. It plays converted movies I get from torrents in DVD quality or better and has a phone, camera, video and music.
MAKE IT A PHONE!!!!!!!!!!
wanted one when I saw the images released, still wanting one. I will be buying one when they comeout september 4th. Couldnt be a greater time for me either. gives me something to do while im supposed to be listening to my morning lectures
My first thought is "Oh yay! That's a great price! I can't wait!"
And then I remember that the 120GB Zune from the last gen is only $250.
Price-point FAIL.
Ramar - You need to step away from your computer....
DUDE are you that dumb? The ZuneHD is solid state based not HDD based!

You don't get it. Why are you even on this site?
the Zune 120 is a HARD DRIVE BASED PLAYER. Not only that but it has a 3.1" regular screen, no internet, no HD radio. Not only that, but the screen runs at a resolution of 320x240.
The Zune HD is a FLASH BASED PLAYER that has a 3.3" screen, internet access, HD Radio, touch interface, and a screen that runs at 480x360.
Ignorant idiot.
Anyway, i'll probably be sticking to my Zune 120GB. It gets the job done. I'll probably upgrade when Microsoft releases its next media player (I'm hoping for something like 64GB, 3.5" screen, maybe even some functionality programs).
As for people complaining that 32GB is not enough, I don't understand. Do you really listen to (literally) 10000 songs every day, along with hundreds of movies? ROTATE your stuff. I'd be happy with a 30GB Player (and I was, until my Zen Vision M broke)
And for lossless freaks, who can't help but listen to 1000Kbps music. Really, use the high VBR WMA. The sound quality isn't any different, and it's only 1/3 of the size of a lossless FLAC, WMA, or AAC.
I'm seriosly tempted if I can round up the extra doh! playing movies in 720p would be great especially when I'm going on long road trips; seems like a great investment
The 720p is for TV output only.
And solid-state is a good trade-off, why? There are lots of people like me that are huge audiophiles and need more storage space than 32GB. The last gen had 4, 8, and 16GB models with solid-state, then larger models with a hard drive. Is there some good reason I'm not getting as to why this isn't true for the Zune HD? Or why if the largest point of the device is simply watching to and listening to media, why anyone would pay the price premium for this one over a model with much more storage? That Tegra and touch screen would be nice and all, but not worth forty extra dollars and a loss of 80GB.
Granted I'll still probably be buying one some time after launch, it's just a hard concept to swallow.
Also, your numbers for the LCD Resolution are off, .2 inches screen difference isn't anything to be too proud of, and maybe I just don't "get it", but the internet feature would probably be used twice by most people for posterity, and then forgotten. We should all have internet-capable cell phones these days.
Rotation takes time. I want everything on me. I have moved to carying all my music on SD cards. Now I can listen to whatever I want on any system I am on: Cell phone, PmP, Laptop, Desktop, etc...
Wish this had SDXC... Camera would have been nice. But we have a few generations to go before one of the big boys rolls out with a PmP with everything on it.
OLED/Hard-glass should be super sweet. I want it just for the HD radio.
I plan on getting a new player as soon as my 5gen ipod dies, I refuse to waste the space on my iphone for music, and I agree that iTunes is overrated. As soon as my ipod dies or the price drops (or a sale occurs), I will be buying this.
