Unnamed project to see Simon Cowell take a step in another direction.
Even if you're not a fan, no doubt you've at least heard about Simon Cowell's reality TV show franchises. From American Idol to X Factor, Cowell has been in the business a long time. However, rumor has it he's going to shake things up a bit with his next show. According to the Sun Newspaper, Will.i.am is partnering with Cowell on the project, which will focus on technolgoy. Speaking to the Sun, Will.i.am said, "We're working on a project called X Factor for Tech -- and it's going to be out of this world."
Cowell is best known for his American Idol series which aims to find the next big thing in the music business via public auditions and live elimination shows. The Sun describes this new show as a search for the next Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am told the Sun: "Singing and performance create a couple of jobs. But this will create lots. It's about getting in touch with youth and giving them a platform to express themselves — whether that's in science or mathematics."
Will.i.am revealed the project's existence while speaking at a tech conference in London but didn't offer any other details about the show. As a result, we're left wondering as to how the audition process will work or who the judges might be. With something like this, we imagine a Shark Tank/Dragon's Den approach might be more suitable, but we don't claim to be experts when it comes to finding talent.

You mean like spell-checkers?
Ahem.
It'll end up being presented by somebody young and "hip" who's probably played Angry Birds once. Still, better than Cowell...
Yea, the purchase of QDOS wasn't exactly completely out in the open but MS didn't steal code. QDOS was different enough from CP/M to not be stealing code and then MS turned around and licensed MS-DOS (renamed QDOS since they now owned it) to IBM. If MS didn't do it IBM would have found another OS and more than likely the same thing would happen and you would act the same way except you would hate a different company for no reason. As for his mother getting him a meeting with IBM well, who cares how you get the meeting as long as you get it there are many people who get meeting based on their friends yet many people think it is fine yet your mother doing the same is suddenly bad?
Stop the irrational hate and look at what MS has actually done, can you imagine an entire industry based on closed systems that are incompatible with each other? MS might not have been the most noble company at all times but they did help standardize and create what we use today.
Spell check is a wonderful thing
Steve was a marketing genius. He can not only sell you his product for whatever price he likes, he even make people standing in lines for days before they can finally buy his product. He is no less than a marketing genius.
