Monitor Servers via Cloud Pro App on iPad
The Rackspace Cloud Pro app lets you administer Cloud Servers on the go.
Rackspace US said Tuesday in this official blog that a demo of Rackspace Cloud Pro is now available on Apple's App Store for the iPad (iTunes link). The app allows users administer Cloud Servers on the go with Apple's new gadget, providing the ability to turn on backups for a server, create new servers from backups, manage back-up scheduling, re-boot, rename, re-size and delete servers.
"It's amazing to think that racks of servers in corporations once managed by entire IT teams can now be handled by one person with the touch of a finger using an iPad tablet from anywhere," said Rackspace developer Mike Mayo. "As a former customer and now a Racker myself, I believe the mobility and functionality made possible by the Apple iPad and The Rackspace Cloud has the potential to transform the way business applications are managed."
The Cloud Pro app will also enable developers to view information on the state of the entire Rackspace cloud as a whole. At the same time, they'll also have the means to ping an IP address of any cloud server and retrieve its response time from 41 different locations around the world. "With the iPad app, you can do everything the API allows for Cloud Servers, and for Cloud Files, you can control CDN attributes," the product page states.
While the demo was previously released on March 31, the full blown version may not be available until April 15. Currently there's no indication of pricing or special features for the paid version.
