LG's Dual-core G2X Launching April 15
We’ve seen quite a few dual-core tablets (and we’ve been promised a ton more for 2011) but dual-core smartphones, or superphones, are a little more scarce. However, on April 15, LG is going to increase that population by one.
T-Mobile has given an official release date and price for LG’s Tegra 2 superphone, the G2X. Revealed via tweet this morning, the release is actually split across two dates, one for online and one for in-store. Those willing to order online and wait for delivery will need to have their credit cards at the ready on April 15, while those trekking down to their local T-Mobile store will be able to pick it up five days later on April 20.

As far as pricing is concerned, T-Mobile is saying the usual $199.99 smartphone sweet-spot. Of course, it goes without saying that it is conditional on you signing a two-year contract, but customers will also have to go through the hassle of a $50 mail-in-rebate.
The G2X is a 4G smartphone aimed at the gaming masses. It’s T-Mobile’s first Tegra 2 device and it boasts a 4-inch WVGA screen, 8GB memory (up to 32GB via microSD), a 1500 mAh battery, an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front camera, HDMI mirroring and 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 playback and recording. It also makes use of TMo's HSPA+ network, which offers theoretical download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps. If you recognize the specs of this baby it’s because you’ve probably read about the European version, which is called the Optimus 2X.

When is quad core phone coming out?
is there a quad core version soon?
Ram. Ram ram ram.
Battery life. Battery life battery life battery life.
Increasing CPU power is marketing hype.
More ram and more battery life will make me super interested.
Samsung Galaxy S2 all the wayyyyyyyyy
Samsung Galaxy S2 all the wayyyyyyyyy
i like lg phones because for some reason samsung android phones only have 300mb of ram accessible for apps and the rest of the 512 mb missing in action or doing something else.
Samsung Galaxy S2 all the wayyyyyyyyy
As I probably made obvious in other Galaxy S posts, I don't like samsung for releasing a phone with so much potential, but so little RAM.
They probably did this on purpose to make people rush off into their "next big thing", the Galaxy S II which I WON'T be buying.
Oh, so what do those cores do? "animate" menus "even smoother"? That''s really important.
I'll wait for the 3d (without glasses) version of this phone and for the iphone 5.
I'll compare both of them and chose the best for my needs.

I agree. Let more CPU for those seeking it, let more battery for those seeking it too... what is the longest a smartphone can stay off the plug these days?
3-4 hours
haha
You are wrong it's not t-mobiles first Tegra 2. The Dell Streak 7 has one also.
I like basic phones and powerfull computers!
@godnodog
We will achieve a "basic phone" and a "powerful computers" in one small package soon...
Are we in need of a major battery breakthrough for all these super powered mobile devices...So you have a device that can play 1080p, stream at hi-def, play games...etc etc. and yet the battery drains out in just hrs?
"The G2X is a 4G smartphone... TMo's HSPA+ network, which offers theoretical download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps"
Is this true?
Only 14.4 Mbps for 4G?
Will it play Crysis? no? then NO! I don't want it.
I AM A BANANA!
Don't like the look, though usually I do like square phones.
Android + Dual Core = Battery Eater.
this is crazy!

But the Galaxy S2 comes with 1GB of RAM which is just as much as the Motorola Atrix and twice as much as LG's Optimus x2/G2X. On top of that the Galaxy S2 comes with either 16GB or 32GB internal flash memory which can be expanded by an additional 32GB through the SD card slot.
At first when I saw memory I thought they meant RAM but that would make it have 8GB...
I also think the phone looks super cool... almost like the Evo...
People overestimate their CPUs battery consumption, the actually CPU is only a tiny part of the whole SOC, find a diagram of one. Constant data connectivity (3G/4G/Wifi) is the big battery killer. There's plenty of apps and widgets for turning those off, unless you really need to be notified of when you have email...
found a heavy game for my LG Optimus 2x (dungeon defenders), playing it smoothly but soon after i had low battery, so i set it to charge while i was playing, a few hours later i stopped playing and looked how much the phone had charged... nothing (maybe discharged some).
as for playing Full-HD movie, it didn't take my Full-HD mkv so well, nor did it take only HD avi files well. so if you wonna play movies on it, you might wonna convert it to something the phone is good at playing like 3gp files like the phone is recording its Full-HD, but when you are already converting, you might aswell cut the video to the phones size.
this phone should be 21 mbps. Y? T-mobile web rocket 2.0 and jet 2.0 stick has a theoretical speed of 21 mbps. G2x and these two webstick has the same frequency band. how could the jet 2.0 with 850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;UMTS/HSPA+: AWS Band IV / 2100 / 1900 / 850 be 21mbps if G2x is the same.
Is it 4G?
MY SPOON IS TOO BIG!
thr g2x ...its better than u all think ot is....it is simply 1of the top 5 cellphones out there today....
