A Best Buy store is not an oddity in the US. Seeing one while shopping on a Saturday afternoon won’t garner a reaction from most people. It’s a slightly different story in the UK.

Currently there are exactly zero Best Buys in the UK. At the beginning of May, British chain, Carphone Warehouse announced a deal with Best Buy. The $1bn dollar deal would see Best Buy consumer electronics sold through Carphone Warehouse outlets in the UK (as well as the company’s stores throughout Europe). Carphone Warehouse stores would remain under the Carphone Warehouse brand, however new stores would be opening in the UK under the Best Buy name.

The locations for the first four of these Best Buy stores have been revealed and it looks like the American store is set to go head to head with DSGi. According to PC Retail, the four locations are Bath Road Retail Park in Slough, Two Rivers Retail Park in Staines, Thurrock Retail Park in Essex and Enfield Retail Park, the location of DSGi’s new format PC World.

Aside from the stores in these retail parks, there are also rumours regarding a flagship store in central London. Sources told Retail Week that the company has plans for up to 20 stores in the next year.

I find it humorous that Best Buy nearly NEVER has the "best buy". Excluding video games of course.I love their PC game selection.
