BMW 3-Wheeler Concept Car Needs Lasers
BMW revealed a three-wheel concept car that could be mistaken for a star fighter.
By the looks of BMW's latest concept car--or Nissan's Land Glider for that matter--one would think that the engineers behind the prototypes are all over the Sci-Fi Channel (oh wait that's SyFi now sorry). BMW's latest concept, simply called SIMPLE for Sustainable and Innovative Mobility Product for Low Energy consumption, definitely could fit rather nicely in the Star Wars universe.
The official website reveals that the three-wheel prototype can jump to 60 mph in just under ten seconds, with a maximum speed of 125 mph using a small, 48P combustion engine and an electric motor. Although the vehicle weighs roughly 922 pounds, its star fighter design isn't just for looks: the drag coefficient is only 0.18.
BMW said that the concept car is geared for the professional who does a lot of traveling alone. Measuring just 110 cm wide, the vehicle can seat two people, and uses tilting technology that tilts the passenger cell automatically. Like Nissan's Land Glider, the SIMPLE also features an airplane cockpit-like dashboard and steering.
Currently there are no plans for production of the SIMPLE, however that's likely to change in a few years. Honestly, we think this thing would look really awesome with a few laser turrets mounted on each side. PEW PEW!

It's badass is what it is! I want one. It reminds me of a stealth fighter jet... screw lasers, mount a minigun on the sides (hell it looks like there's a place for them already)!
Sorry, I think you may get your ass kicked if you drove that down a neighborhood. And you prob deserved it too...
Does it have a seat up the top for my R2D2???
"the concept car is geared for the professional who does a lot of traveling alone."
while also for the individual who would like to die in a fireball car crash alone as well.
"behind the prototypes are all over the Sci-Fi Channel (oh wait that's SyFi now sorry)"
3 times a charm... Syfy now...
Worse. It's "SyFy"
2 times the "y" 's, 2 times as lame
I think the engine is too underpowered to support the laser turrets just yet
...but sure would be a nice way to vaporize the SUV that is about to flatten you and your micro car in an accident
We've had 3 wheeled cars before, and the problem is, they have a tendency to roll.
However, what about putting a gyroscope to stabilize it?
What a stupid concept car and a waste of resources. There's a reason companies stopped making 3 wheel ATVs. Three wheel vehicles are inherently unstable. The fact that you have 3 tracks instead of two also means you cant straddle any pot holes, road kills etc. You run over anything in your path. The center wheel would be riding in oil all the time.
Anyone who gets up to 125mph in that thing deserves what happens to them next.

No it isn't... It's the third: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_millennium
Umm Star Wars anyone???

LOL... +1 all the way! I was thinking the same thing.
The damn thing looks like some sort of wierd coffin on wheels... which might be fairly appropriate and convenient for when you do decide to try 125MPH, or even get into a little shoving match with an 18-wheeler (or hell, even a Honda Civic!).
F-ZERO
WTF!!??
