Acer is planning to shift 20 million smartphones annually in 2012-2014, according to reports.
Citing president of Acer's Smart Handheld Business Group (SHBG) Aymar de Lencquesaing Digitimes reports that Acer aims to ship 2 to 2.5 million own-brand smartphones in 2010, with annual shipments to increase to 20 million units in 2012-2014, making it one of the world's top-five smartphone vendors with a 6 to 7 percent market share.
Those are huge numbers for a company that is still extremely new to the cell phone market Lencuesaing points out that only 300 million out of the world's four billion handset users are smartphone subscribers, leaving plenty of room for further development in the smartphone segment. Lencuesaing added that the company expects global demand for smartphones will grow 15 percent annually over the next five years.
Acer announced its first four smartphones at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona in February. The X960, the F900, the M900 and the DX900 haven’t received much attention since their Winter launch, however Acer says the company is getting ready to launch a smartphone offering in the Fall of this year.

Apple Tells UPS to Hold iPhone...

Wishful thinking. Acer has done nothing to prove it self amongst the Windows Mobile, Apple iPhones, Blackberry, Android, Palm, etc. Iphone is only selling 15 million a year and it has big name recognition.
The iphone does have an apple store to stop it from selling though - perhaps something that isn't locked to such a feature has a better chance at selling big. In any event, they're very good at making laptops and other stuff, so I suppose they could end up making a decent product that everyone wants to have. They'd have to actually deliver the goods though.
wait... you just said acer and good product in the same sentance.... acer has never made a good product that I have seen...
Acer made smartphones?

Acer do make good products. They're not always very durable however, and when they're sent in for repair people may get their patience tested. BUT the products are priced very good, and they're performing on par with more expensive ones. So if one isn't dependant on the product bought, an acer product might well be an option.
