The biggest brands in the TV business are gearing up to launch their latest models in the coming weeks, and many experts (myself included) are predicting higher prices this year on account of the ongoing RAM shortage. To prepare, I’ve been telling friends, readers and anyone who’ll listen that the time to upgrade to a new TV is sooner rather than later.
Many 2025 sets — including some of my favorite Mini-LED and OLED TVs — are on sale ahead of the release of the next wave of TVs. This is the way to go if you’re hoping to side-step any price hikes in 2026.
As it happens, Amazon is running a sweet deal on one of my favorite OLED TVs: Samsung’s mid-range S90F. Right now, you can get the 55-inch Samsung S90F for just $1,097 at Amazon. That’s $500 off its already-discounted price, but according to the listing, this limited-time deal isn’t sticking around.
The 55-inch Samsung S90F is one of the best mid-range OLED TVs you can buy. Its quantum-dot display allows for brighter, purer color than what you'll find on garden-variety WOLED displays, and the S90F is also equipped with nearly every feature you'll find on higher-end Samsung OLED TVs.
The S90F sits between Samsung's entry-level OLED and the flagship-level S95F OLED. This means that it offers better performance than a more-affordable OLED TV but doesn't quite reach the benchmarks set by the brand's top-of-the-line model.
Nevertheless, you're still getting a ton of upside here. The S90F borrows many of the S95F's best features, including some hardware that sets it apart from competing sets (such as the mid-range LG C5 OLED).
Like its higher-end sibling, the 55-inch version of the S90F makes use of Samsung Display's quantum dot-enhanced (QD-OLED) display. Most OLED TVs (including the LG C5) leverage a standard WOLED panel without quantum dots.
When it comes to QD-OLED vs WOLED at the mid-range price point, the benefits of quantum dots are clear: brighter, purer color and higher overall highlight brightness. The LG C5 offers an incredible-looking picture, but according to our tests, the quantum dot-equipped S90F offers slightly brighter highlights and much better HDR color volume.

One advantage the LG C5 has over the S90F is its Dolby Vision support. Like all Samsung TVs, the S90F doesn't come with Dolby Vision. Still, that's only one of a few missing features on the S90F, as this set is packed with bells and whistles.
Outside of Dolby Vision, the S90F is ready to take advantage of nearly everything a current-generation gaming console can throw at it. This TV supports 4K gaming at 120Hz (and up to 144Hz) across all four of its HDMI 2.1-compatible inputs. FreeSync support and G-Sync compatibility are here, as well as Samsung's Gaming Hub software suite.
The S90F is built around Samsung's Tizen-based smart platform, and while I've got some hang-ups about how the user interface is laid out, it's robust enough to use as a daily driver.
The Amazon listing doesn't note when this deal expires, but there's a limited-time badge on the page, so it's safe to assume that this $500 discount won't be sticking around forever. If you're looking for something a bit bigger, the 65-inch Samsung S90F is on sale for $1,397 at Amazon. The savings aren't as substantial, but it's still a killer limited-time deal, nonetheless.
