Samsung reveals Exynos 2600 chipset in new video — everything we know so far
Samsung has officially revealed the next generation of its in-house chip, which could mean some big changes for future Samsung phones.
One of the big questions that often comes up with new Samsung releases is which chip will feature in the phone. While most Samsung phones feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip, the company also releases phones with its own Exynos series chip in some markets.
We've been hearing rumors that the same could be true with the Samsung Galaxy S26, but nothing concrete.
However, Samsung recently released a new announcement video titled “The next Exynos” on its official YouTube channel. Backed by Stranger Things-style music, the video reveals the Exynos 2600 name, while noting that the chipset is refined and optimized at every level, before finally stating that the new chip is coming soon.
But how does this relate to the Galaxy S26? Well, Samsung tends to only announce new Exynos chips shortly before they actually release them. Considering we’re expecting the Galaxy S26 series to be announced in February, Samsung's revealing the chip now feels portentious.
What do we know about the Exynos chip?
At this point, we expect the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus to launch with the Exynos 2600 chip in some markets. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will likely launch with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip globally. However, there are some indications that this won’t be the case.
The question on most people's minds will be around the effectiveness of these new chips, as the Exynos series is seen as weaker. However, recent leaks indicate that the Exynos 2600 could be much more powerful than what has come before. The leaked Geekbench results show a single-core score of 4,217 and a multi-core score of 13,482. However, it is worth noting that these scores no longer appear on the Geekbench site, so take them with a grain of salt.

It’s also important to note that the chip doesn’t reflect a phone's exact performance, as other factors must be taken into account. For instance, the RAM provided has a big effect on how powerful the phone is. Unfortunately, Samsung isn’t known for offering more RAM in its phones over generations, and a recent leak of the Galaxy S26 specs indicates it will feature 12GB of RAM.
Either way, the indication that the Exynos chips could match the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 could go a long way toward making it more appealing to customers. However, we won't know for sure until we test one ourselves to see just how powerful it is.
