iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max pre-orders are now live — here's the deals I recommend

Pre-orders for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are officially live. Priced at $1,099, the former is $100 costlier than its predecessor, although the base model now comes with 256GB of storage instead of 128GB. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1,199, which is on par with last year's iPhone 16 Pro Max price.
The good news is that there are plenty of iPhone 17 Pro pre-order deals you can take advantage of right now. Yes, you'll have to sign up for a monthly installment plan and eligible unlimited data plan, but T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T are each offering the iPhone 17 Pro for free with trade-in. Alternatively, you can get up to $1,099 off the iPhone 17 Pro Max via the same requirements at each carrier.
In our iPhone 17 Pro hands-on review, we said both Pro models have undergone the biggest changes in years, starting with powerful new processors, longer battery life, and a vapor chamber cooling system. Sure, the iPhone Air is intriguing, but for raw performance — the Pro models are your best bet.

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are nearly identical. What separates the two are screen size, storage capacities, and battery life. Otherwise, the processors and camera configurations are similar on both phones.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max wins in that it offers the bigger 6.9-inch screen and its battery is rated at 39 hours of video. It also comes in a 2TB configuration, should you need the extra storage. By comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro sports a smaller 6.3-inch screen and only 33 hours of video playback.
They're both premium phones and likely to wind up in our list of best phones of 2025, so the model you choose really comes down to preference and budget. Make sure to check out our iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max hands-on review for our initial impressions.
